A series looking at the space between the public street and interior spaces of selected buildings.

The Pantheon in Rome has a nearly perfect circular dome with a central oculus or opening of 12 feet in diameter, which is the sole source of light to this magnificent interior. There is a magical relationship between the original monumental bronze doors dating from the 2nd c AD through to the sky above which inspired this series.

Threshold 1

The little church in the small village of San Augustin outside Oaxaca in Southern Mexico is an exquisite example of the marriage of simple wooden architecture and the solid masonry of the building.

Threshold II

A relatively modern building but employs the classical vocabulary of ancient Rome, this is a bank building in Sydney.
