For decades artists and photographers have relied upon Polaroid instant film products to judge composition, lighting, and exposure as well as create artwork benefiting from its unique properties. Much to the dismay of both the art community and the remaining 150 workers at the plant in Massachusetts, Polaroid Corp recently ceased production of this range. A petition is under way to save this unique film stock. Go and sign your support!

If you are unfamiliar with Type 55 see my Dominion Observatory, Wellington 2004 on this site for the qualities it imparts - a seamless tonal gradation and delicacy in the 4 x 5 inch negative plus a positive reference print.

it is of the utmost importance to the art world, be it paint, photographic, commercial works, whatever. Polaroid Type 55 is essential as a tool in the creation of all art works. I have been familiar with it for decades and have seen it used in ways digital simply doesn't.
